Games on the Original Xbox

At the start of the consoles launch, the Xbox had 20 games available, including titles like Halo: Combat Evolved, Project Gotham Racing, and Dead or Alive 3. Over the course of its lifespan, the Xbox amassed a library of more than 989 games, with 112 of them being exclusive to the console. The best-selling game on the system was Halo 2, which sold 8.46 million copies, followed by Halo: Combat Evolved with 6 million copies sold.

In terms of exclusives, Microsoft was looking to acquire Electronic Arts, Nintendo, Square Enix, and Midway to have more exclusives without success. However, they did convince Tecmo and Bethesda to make console exclusives for them such as Dead or Alive 3 and The Elder Scrolls Morrowind. Later on in 2002, they would also acquire Rare as a first-party developer.
